China (mainland) – The world's supply of CCTV digital video recorders (DVR) is forecast to grow by at least 37 percent in 2006.

Mainland China-New analysis from the Global Sources Sourcing Report on the industry reveals that aggregate shipments of makers in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea is estimated to increase from 12.7 million units in 2005 to about 17.4 million units in 2006. DVR shipments from mainland China alone are projected to reach $139 million in total revenues compared with $82 million in 2005.

South Korea and Taiwan DVR makers already account for about 70 percent of the worldwide supply of CCTV DVR. These regions have about 400 active makers. Mainland China, on the other hand, has a fast growing supplier base and is presently expected to approximate the sourcing strength of both South Korea and Taiwan.

The increase in demand for security products and the availability of newly developed software and hardware technologies are expected to bolster the steady growth of the sector. The entry of new players from CCTV camera, CCTV monitor, industrial PC and graphic card lines are expected to amplify the sector's production and R&D capabilities.
